When Jovoni Jones was just 7 years old he was diagnosed with Auto-Immune Hepatitis. Bouts of high fever, jaundice, fatigue, and several hospital stays would determine that Jovoni’s liver was functioning on borrowed time and one day he would need a liver transplant.

Nine years later at 16 years-old, Jovoni was very sick and desperately fighting for his life, at only 79 pounds.  In the midst of that fight Jovoni received a Christmas miracle.

On December 24th, Christmas Eve, Jovoni’s family received the call that would save his life; they had found a matching donor liver.  The following morning at 10:00 am, a team of doctors and nurses transplanted Jovoni’s sick liver with a healthy one.  The long battle for life was over and after a 2 month stay in the hospital, Jovoni was finally going home.

Although his illness kept him from attending high school it did not discourage him from graduating. He is now attending college studying game art and design and preparing  to live his dreams

“Life is a miracle!  So never give up on the hope of living and being able to live your dreams,”  says Janis, Jovoni’s mom.
