Events & Activities
The Family Services staff at LifeCenter Northwest hosts regular events and activities for donor families. We’re always working on new ways to stay in touch, and we hope our donor families can take part and join others in celebrating the gift of life.
Below are some upcoming events and activities:
The Annual Donation Celebration
We host annual celebrations for donor families in Western Washington, Eastern Washington, Alaska, and Montana.
Workshops for Donor Families
We host annual workshops and provide written materials such as coping with the holidays after loss.
The Donor Family Advisory Council
The Donor Family Advisory Council provides donor families an opportunity to get involved and provide direct input to our donor family support program. We continually work to identify donor family needs, to support each family through their individual grieving process.
National Donor Family Recognition Ceremony & Workshops
The National Donor Family Recognition Ceremony & Workshop is held every other year in Washington, DC (and July 15–17 in 2011). Donors and their families from all over the country are honored by the federal government and the transplant community for giving the gift of life. LifeCenter Northwest Donor Family Facebook Community Group
Our Facebook group is a place for donor families and friends to communicate, share, remember, and heal. This group is open just to donor families so that you have a place to share, learn, and heal from other donor family members. Comfort Shawl project
We want to gather donor families, recipients and all volunteers to make comfort shawls to be given to families at the hospital. Thanks to the BloodCenter of Wisconsin, Wisconsin Donor Network, and Wisconsin Tissue Bank for providing us with information about their Comfort Shawl program. LifeCenter Northwest will be replicating this project, and we’ll have more information as we get this project up and running.
