Donor Family Quilt

Donor families, as well as transplant recipients and their families, are invited to participate in making a memorial quilt square. Dedicated to the memory of those who gave the gift of life and health, each quilt square commemorates the life of an organ, tissue, or eye donor.
Quilts from our region are displayed at our annual Donor Family Gatherings, as well as at educational and professional presentations throughout the Northwest. Each region of the country has their own regional quilts, and the National Kidney Foundation also has national donor family quilts.

How do I make a quilt square?
Quilt squares should be 9”x 9”, with the actual design measuring 8”x 8”, leaving a ½” seam allowance on each side of the square. You may use photographs transferred to fabric, fabric paint, markers, thread, or any other fabric-compatible medium to design the squares. Please feel free to include the name of your loved one and dates of birth and death, if you wish.
You’re encouraged to write about the meaning of your quilt square and your experience making it. Stories should be limited to one side of a 6” x 8” page and will be compiled into an album, which will be displayed with the quilts.
New quilts are always being made, and squares can be submitted at any time.
